The prices vary depending on what Solicitor you choose. Please keep reading to find more information on our prices at Daniel Kreith & Co Solicitors.

Do I need a solicitor for my drink or drug driving case?

You are not required to instruct a Solicitor but it is advised as if you are convicted of either drink or drug driving, the consequences are serious and can have detrimental effects on your everyday life. For starters, you will be automatically disqualified from holding a driving licence for a period of time and if you are a repeat offender, there is a very real chance that a prison sentence may be imposed.

Solicitors undergo years of education and continued training to ensure that they are experts in their fields. It is the job of a Solicitor to act in their client’s best interest and to provide them with the best defence possible and so it is in an accused person’s interest to employ a Solicitor. They will be in the best position to prepare and run your case and to get you the most desired outcome.

How do I choose the right solicitor?

It might seem daunting when you first start to look for legal representation, especially if you have been charged with a criminal offence. The most important thing to remember is that knowledge is key and so it is essential that the Solicitor you choose is an expert in drink or drug driving. This really is the first step in putting the building blocks of your defence in place.

At Daniel Kreith & Co, we specialise in drink and drug driving cases and deal with these matters day in and day out. We are up to date on all aspects of the law, familiar with the processes involved and are committed to achieving the best result possible for your situation.

Do I need a barrister?

A barrister is a lawyer who specialises in court advocacy. If you have never been in a courtroom and are only familiar with the law through television shows, barristers are the ones wearing white collars and black gowns (and sometimes wigs!) who address the Judge and the Jury.

If you are contesting the case against you, you will need a barrister to put your defence before the Court. Barristers are highly trained in presenting the facts of the case to the Court, examining and cross-examining witnesses and are best placed to put your best foot forward on the day.

If you decide to plead guilty to the offence of drink or drug driving, it is not necessary to instruct a barrister as there is little advocacy involved. However, it may still be desirable if you are trying to avoid a prison sentence as a barrister may make a plea in mitigation on your behalf.

Can I get legal aid?

To qualify for legal aid, you will need to show the Court that you are not in a position to afford legal representation. (1) However, the fees paid by the criminal legal aid scheme are unfortunately very minimal making it very difficult, if not impossible, to properly defend a drink or drug driving case. As such, Daniel Kreith & Co only take private clients.
